Evolution of GeoShield
The story of GeoShield is one of ambition, dedication and teamwork. From the beginning, the company has been built around people. Skilled Engineers and Verification Officers have always been at the heart of what we do, supported by an experienced management team with decades of knowledge in Validation, Verification, Integrity Testing and on-site Quality Assurance Programmes.
GeoShield began in 2015, when its founding members came together after working on a wide range of complex projects across the UK and overseas. They shared a clear aim, to improve the reliability, accountability and overall quality of protective systems within the built environment.
It was also an important year for the wider industry. The introduction of CIRIA C735 and BS 8485:2015 marked significant progress, particularly through the formal inclusion of independent third-party Validation and Verification within the Code of Practice for protective measures against methane and carbon dioxide ground gases in new buildings. This helped to reduce the risk of human error in design, material selection, installation and the recording of quality management data, while helping to raise standards across the sector.
As awareness of the importance of robust protection systems increased, further guidance and standards followed. New recommendations were introduced to support the protection of buildings from hazardous ground gases, ground and rainwater ingress and stormwater containment. As a result, many major warranty providers began requiring independent third-party validation, verification and integrity testing before issuing insurance and guarantees.
GeoShield grew alongside these developments. As founder members of The British Verification Council, individuals within the company drew on their extensive experience to help deliver some of the largest and most demanding on site hazardous ground gas and waterproofing Quality Assurance Programmes around the world. In doing so, they not only helped shape GeoShield’s own approach, but also contributed to raising standards across the industry.
In 2023, GeoShield expanded further with the addition of its flat roof integrity testing division. This was in response to the growing number of newly installed flat roofs developing leaks soon after installation. Since then, the division has grown to provide both integrity testing and condition reporting for existing roofs, allowing GeoShield to offer broader support to its clients.
Today, GeoShield is proud to be an ISO accredited organisation, holding both ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 14001 for environmental management. As a Constructionline Gold Member, the company continues to demonstrate its commitment to excellence, best practice and responsible leadership within the industry.
At its heart, GeoShield’s story is one of steady growth, shared expertise and a genuine commitment to doing things properly. It is a company built on integrity, shaped by collaboration and trusted to bring confidence to every project it supports.
